After moving to Belgium from Morocco, they released a few small but acclaimed films (Image, Black, Gangsta) before being tapped by Hollywood as 'the next big thing.' The directorial duo were whisked away into the entrails of the studio system, directing Bad Boys for Life and Ms. Marvel, and were attached to the long-awaited sequel, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley, before moving on. The Adil and Bilall version of Beverly Hills Cop isn't the only thing audiences have missed out on — they also directed an eagerly anticipated DC film, Batgirl, which was subsequently shelved by Warner Bros., never to be seen again. And yet, they've moved on, and are now releasing their most personal and powerful film yet, Rebel.

<![CDATA[The Continental Producers on the Challenge of Bringing the World of John Wick to TV]]> Producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee have been with John Wick since the beginning. They saw this property, which started in 2014 with a single film starring Keanu Reeves, blossom into a full-fledged franchise of which the most recent film, John Wick: Chapter 4, became one of the biggest movies of 2023, and the highest-grossing John Wick movie. This R-rated action film performed better at the box office than blockbuster projects like The Flash, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One.

<![CDATA[The Continental Director Discusses the World of John Wick]]> The John Wick franchise is one of the most well-regarded of the 21st century. It is a rare action series that is well-regarded among casual fans while also generating incredibly strong reviews from critics. The films repeatedly got better reviews and increased box office revenue while other franchises began to see diminishing returns. A good deal of that comes from star Keanu Reeves, but was also due to the creative visionary of director Chad Stahelski. While David Leitch co-directed the first film, every subsequent film was from Stahelski, who had a unique vision for the series.

Keith Gill, a Mass Mutual financial analyst living near Boston, posted a series of YouTube videos under the moniker Roaring Kitty. Gill gained an army of followers from the WallStreetBets Reddit forum, who then inflated GameStop's stock price a whopping 1,500% in less than a year. The ensuing fracas created a media sensation that resulted in notable bankruptcies and a congressional hearing to see if any laws were broken.

Starring Josha Stradowski as Rand al’Thor who, at the end of season one, reluctantly learned that he is "The Dragon Reborn," it is a must-watch for all the reasons why we love the genre, including truly imaginative escapism driven by a hope for the power of good. As a seemingly dangerous historical figure, Rand is weighted with the burden of knowing he must face the prophecy placed upon his life. Either he will save the world or he will destroy it.

<![CDATA[The Last Voyage of the Demeter's Heike Merker Talks Designing Dracula's Victims]]> Remember when vampires were all the rage? Audiences couldn't get enough. From Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Blade in the '90s came a bevy of vampiric titles that were very different from the Dracula movies of old. The Twilight movies, The Vampire Diaries, True Blood, and What We Do in the Shadows reflected an unprecedented love for the vampire genre by focusing on the more humanistic elements of the creatures. There was a lull for several years, though, which seems to have ended with the arrival of this year's Renfield, the upcoming Nosferatu directed by Robert Eggers, and now the gothic horror film, The Last Voyage of the Demeter. It's safe to say that vampires are back.

<![CDATA[Heart of Stone Interview Gets Hilarious with Tom Harper and Matthias Schweighöfer]]> Note: This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike.Heart of Stone is like a classic blockbuster-style action film, only condensed to the Netflix screen. It's got huge stars (Alia Bhatt, Gal Gadot, and Jamie Dornan, to name but a few), massive set pieces, death-defying stunts, and a big, wild plot. Its secret weapon, though, is the film's use of technology, not just behind the scenes with CGI, but in the actual narrative. Big tech and AI are at the heart of Heart of Stone, quite literally; the plot hinges upon The Heart, a super-powerful quantum computing device that can shape the world.

<![CDATA[King on Screen Director Daphné Baiwir on Her Eye-Opening Documentary]]> 47 years ago, Brian de Palma directed Carrie, Stephen King’s bone-chilling first novel, and moviemaking was never the same. Since that time, more than 50 directors have adapted the king’s books in 80 films and series. And rightly so. The man is considered the master of horror, after all. Still, that 50/80 feat makes Stephen King the most adapted living author in the entire world.

<![CDATA[Medusa Deluxe Filmmaker Thomas Hardiman on Breaking All the Rules in One Take]]> "Every edit is a lie," said French filmmaking icon Jean-Luc Godard. If that's the case, then A24's new release, Medusa Deluxe, tells the truth in the most cinematic of ways. Staged as a "oner," or a film shot in one continuous take, the debut feature film from Thomas Hardiman is a truly distinct one. It's a murder mystery without any detective, a character study with a dozen characters, flowing through rooms surrounding the scene of the crime and studying the suspicious and eccentric characters involved.

<![CDATA[Miguel Wants to Fight Director Oz Rodriguez Discusses His Hulu Action Comedy]]> Looking to put a pacifistic spin on the otherwise hectic and chaotic action genre, an upcoming movie that is going to be exclusively released on Hulu looks to spotlight a young main character who, ironically enough, has no desire to throw a punch or land a kick against another person. While his three friends have no problem getting into physical brawls when the occasion calls for it, 17-year-old Miguel (played by Tyler Dean Flores) — in the aptly titled Miguel Wants To Fight — just fantasizes about replicating his favorite big screen heroes instead.

One of the most distinct Dracula movies to come along in a while, however, is the gothic new film The Last Voyage of the Demeter.
