One of the most prolific LGBTQ+ shows of the late 1990s, Will & Grace welcomed the world into the lives of gay men in NYC. The show was so prolific that it was rebooted for three additional seasons in 2017, with the original cast reprising their iconic roles. During its run, many stereotypes were challenged and mocked. For the first time on television, gay men were seen as more than the gay best friend. They were written as three-dimensional people who loved, struggled in their careers, and experienced the same emotional depth as real gay men. Will & Grace showcased gay men navigating life and love without tragedy, something so novel, it’s undeniable the impact the show had on how gay men were portrayed on television.
