Before popular police procedural shows like CSI and Law Order as well as gripping crime dramas like The Sopranos stole the hearts of many in the late-20th Century, there were already popular crime shows like Perry Mason and Dragnet that many couldn't stop watching in the 1950s. This shows that the appeal of crime shows didn't start recently and will not wane any time soon. As long as there is that intrigue of solving crime alongside compelling characters, viewers won't get tired of crime series.
