Prime Video has unveiled several first look images at the cast behind the upcoming John Wick spinoff series, The Continental: From the World of John Wick, offering new looks at the cast, including Colin Woodell as Winston Scott and Academy Award winner Mel Gibson. Alongside the new images, the cast has also revealed several insights into the characters they will bring to life in the John Wick prequel, having discussed the series prior to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.

The Continental: From the World of John Wick will center on the early years of John Wick's friend, colleague, and confidante Winston Scott, detailing how he came to his position as proprietor of The Continental hotel in the 1970s and establishing it as a safe haven for assassins where no business may take place. Handsome, smart, cool, and collected, Winston (Colin Woodell) is a savvy businessman who thinks outside the box. After a traumatic event put him in the crosshairs of the law, Winston was working as a successful businessman in London, when an underworld kingpin from his past, Cormac, sends him on a quest to find his estranged brother, Frankie.

Winston is not the only familiar character whose early years will be explored, with actor Ayomide Adegun taking on the role of Charon. A role previously played by the late, great Lance Reddick. When we meet young Charon in The Continental, he is a trusted assistant to Cormac. Over the course of the event series, Charon’s loyalties will be tested, and he’ll need to pick between his protector and a potential found family.

“Lance Reddick’s performance definitely inspired me,” Adegun said of taking on the role. “I think he was a great guy and actor. I've tried to see it from two perspectives. I could either see it as loads of pressure on me and crumble under that, or trust that my interpretation of the character will align with Lance Reddick's portrayal of Charon.”

Alongside Woodell and Adegun, Oscar winner and Hollywood star Mel Gibson will join the world of John Wick as the crime kingpin, Cormac. The rest of the cast of characters includes KD (Mishel Prada), a detective in the NYPD with no patience for the corruption that riddles the force; Mayhew (Jeremy Bobb), another NYPD detective and KD’s superior; Frankie (Ben Robson), Winston's older brother and a natural-born killer; Yen (Nhung Kate), Frankie’s wife and a fierce fighter who will stop at nothing to protect those she loves; Lou (Jessica Allain), an expert martial artist and gunrunner; and finally, Miles (Hubert Point-Du Jour), Lou’s brother Miles, a tough, loyal, and smart Vietnam vet.

“The Continental is a prequel story to the John Wick films, and if you have any familiarity with those films then you'll know that this is a great introduction to the world,” says star Colin Woodell, who takes on the role of a young Winston. “It's about 30 to 40 years prior to when the films take place. We have all the producers from the films, so we have them overseeing and there is a really strict continuity to honour those and the style that they have in them. But what's also wonderful is, this is the ‘70s, so it is going to be stylistically different.”
