After the enormous success of the first season of the live-action adaptation of One Piece, fans and the team behind the series are already thinking about the second season. And they want a great actress to join the cast.

Even before the release of the show, Jamie Lee Curtis had already declared herself a fan of the story created by Eiichirō Oda, so many fans began asking Netflix to hire her to play Dr. Kureha. And it looks like the dream could come true.

On her Instagram page, the Halloween star shared an image of the character, confirming her interest in playing her:

"ONCE the STRIKE against the greed of the AMTPT is SETTLED with a FAIR CONTRACT, I will lobby along with the growing fan frenzy to become Doctor Kureha in @onepiecenetflix."

But the most interesting thing was that, in the comments, One Piece showrunner Matt Owens responded, revealing that they in fact want the actress in season two:

"Mommy dearest, that's why we sent you that figure! No need to lobby. Once we get what we deserve and get back to work, let's talk!"

Considering the enormous impact that the Netflix series has had, there is no doubt that the second season could afford to add an actress as multi-awarded and wanted as Jamie Lee Curtis, especially if it is something that she wants and the fans too.

The Role of Dr. Kureha in One Piece

Dr. Kureha One Piece
Toei Animation

In the manga, anime and live-action series, One Piece follows the story of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who dreams of becoming King of the Pirates. To achieve this, he sails the seas in search of the One Piece, a treasure that all the pirate wants to find. Together with his crew, known as the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy must face all kinds of threats to achieve his goal.

Kureha is a skilled doctor from Drum Island, a place that Luffy and his crew visit to cure Nami, and Kureha ends up saving her, Luffy, and Sanji's lives. Kureha has an apprentice named Tony Tony Chopper, whom she has trained very well and ends up becoming the Straw Hat Pirates' doctor. Kureha appears several more times after that first meeting.

For now, Netflix has not revealed any details about the plot of the second season of One Piece, even when the scripts are ready, but if the series follows a similar format to the first installment, many new characters will be introduced in the new episodes and Kureha should definitely be one of them.

One Piece stars Inaki Godoy (Who Killed Sara?) as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu (Knights of the Zodiac) as Roronoa Zoro, Jacob Gibson (Green Leaf) as Usopp, Emily Rudd (Fear Street Part Two: 1978) as Nami, Taz Skylar (The Lazarus Project) as Sanji, Morgan Davies (Evil Dead Rise) as Kody, and Jeff Ward (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Buggy.
