He became a working class hero through a series of YouTube videos under the moniker Roaring Kitty. Gill believed that GameStop, the brick and mortar video game retailer, was being purposely undervalued by billion dollar hedge funds. They were "shorting" the stock by betting that its price would plummet, thus opening the company to the possibility of a predatory takeover where it could be broken up and sold.

<![CDATA[Best Comedy Movies of All Time]]> There's a wide range of philosophies and faiths that people adopt to survive our sometimes difficult lives, but one thing is universally helpful — laughter. Comedy has forever been humanity's solace from the storms of suffering as a constant throughout history, but it may have found the perfect medium in cinema (and later television). The combination of acting, dialogue, music, visuals, and especially montage has resulted in the most manipulative art form ever, which is great for comedians, as laughter is essentially birthed from manipulation.

Michael Jai White wrote, starred in and directed that movie just as he does with the new Western Outlaw Johnny Black. And White dishes on the ties between the two films in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant:

<![CDATA[25 Quintessential '90s Sitcom Tropes]]> While action and romantic comedy were the most widespread movie genres in the 1990s, TV networks produced an extensive selection of not only procedural dramas, but also sitcoms that were geared either towards families or young adults. Those comedy shows were witty, sassy, dynamic, and bold, and presented a vast array of likable and relatable characters whom are quoted and parodied to this day. Though some elements wouldn’t sit well with today’s audiences, such as gay and fat shaming, there were many tropes you could catch in just about every one of them, regardless of duration or popularity.

<![CDATA[10 Horror Comedies That Lean Heavy on the Comedy]]> Blending horror and comedy seems like an unusual mix of genres. But a lot of the time, it works. These movies take the tension and suspense that can be found in typical horror films and couples them with classic comedic elements, such as slapstick humor and absurd situations. It's a film genre that subverts traditional horror conventions, finding humor in their frightening scenarios, while also using comedy to add an extra layer of entertainment. In other words, a good horror-comedy provides both the screams and the laughs, transitioning seamlessly between the two genres. One minute, we're gasping at our screens and jumping in our seats, and then the next minute, we're cracking up at a ridiculous joke.

<![CDATA[The Most Underrated Rom-Coms You Should Watch Next]]> It’s a genre beloved by many and despised by others, but even those who say they hate rom-coms have a couple of secret favorites. They can provide the perfect pick-me-up after a long day or a much-needed cathartic cry. There’s a sincerity present in the genre that is often lacking in pure comedy movies, and it’s this approach to romance and emotion that will never get old. Watching someone confess their feelings under heightened circumstances — running through traffic, in the pouring rain, in front of a huge crowd — often feels more heroic than watching someone save the world.

With the exception of Seth Rogen productions, which seem to be the only mid-budget comedies being produced for theaters these days, it seems like mainstream comedies have been largely relegated to streamers, and are often bloated with generic humor that aims to please all but ends up satisfying no one. <![CDATA[Why Tropic Thunder Was the Last Mainstream Comedy to Actually Take Chances]]> Fifteen years ago, Tropic Thunder took aim at Hollywood in a way that felt ahead of its time. Directed and co-written by Ben Stiller, with an assist from Justin Theroux and Ethan Cohen, the film poked fun at the studio system, actors wanting acclaim at all costs, and filmmakers in search of respect in the industry. What makes it stand out now is that from a comedic standpoint, it walked a fine between laughs and jokes that could offend, but in 2008, comedy could still take those chances. Despite the film's take on Hollywood being even more relevant today, Tropic Thunder now lives in a landscape where there is a desire not to cross the line. Basically, they don't really make these like they used to.

<![CDATA[The 15 Funniest Opening Scenes in Hollywood Comedies]]> The classic rule of show business is to always leave your audience wanting more, and nowhere is that more important than in the realm of comedy. Slightly less well known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line. No wait— that's not right. Come out swinging. That's the second rule: come out swinging. Any stand-up comedian will tell you that while you want to leave on a high note, it's the first words out of your mouth inform the entire rest of your show. Give a great first impression, and the rest of your set only has to do half the work to keep your audience laughing. The same principle applies to movies. Crest that peak of humor in the beginning, and from there, the rest of the movie just has to keep up the altitude.

The Pod Generation satirically addresses our dependence on technology, the definition of female empowerment, and humanity's loss of connection to nature. The narrative is presented in a somewhat tongue-in-cheek manner. There's never any real moments of angst or tension that divides the primary characters. That ends up being a mistake because the film treads into lukewarm territory. You appreciate the philosophical viewpoints, but it comes at the expense of entertainment value.
